  • Hillsong Conference

So this past week (July 7-11) I attended Hillsong Conference in Sydney, Australia. Ps. Robert was the opening conference speaker and did a great job - You can see a blog from  from that night at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cllIuEBzVbY&feature=related

Although I took so much away from being at the conference (I am still processing it all), there is a quote from the first night that has been in my mind since I heard it.  The quote was shown among a collage of videos portraying violence, corruption, pain, poverty, greed  etc. and the quote was simply:

                                    "Whatever separates
                                      man
                                      from
                                      God

                             Also separates
                                     man
                                     from
                                     man"

And when you read that quote it really gets you thinking about how true that is. That at the core of all that good and loving is God. He is the only one that is ultimately good and innately loving.  Yet, we are called to be like him and his word promises that he can change us and that he desires to work through us to touch the world around us. We are his body.  He has chosen his church to be the extension of his love on earth.

"That they would know that you are mine, by the love you show one another"
The two greatest commandments are these, " To love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength and to love your neighbor (people) as yourself"

I am glad to have walked away from this conference challenged.  God bless!

  • this week

So this Friday night Jude is officially taking his first trip (with us of course) to CA.  I have to admit I'm a little nervious traveling with a 3month old, but thankfully we are on the direct flight to LAX.  So if any of you have any great ideas of how to travel with an infant...just let me know.

By the way we are heading to CA for a missions weekend at Mariners church in Newport Beach. We will be there from this Saturday until next Wednesday with the possibility of driving over to Las Vegas to see Cirque de Soli show "O." Which would be amazing.

Then next Wednesday night we head down to San Diego to visit our family there and then we are back to Peru on the 28th. It should be pretty fun since our pastors here (the Barrigers) and our good friends Jordan and Vaness Durso will also be in this trip. We also have another trip that we are all going on in July to Australia!!!!!!!!! If you can't tell I'm pretty excited. One because Ps. Robert is paying our way,  two because Ps. Robert is one of the speakers (thus we get to go to help manage his schedule, booth, info on Peru) and three.....IT'S AUSTRALIA!!!  Probably one of the most beautiful areas in th world.

So that's the traveling plans so far.....hopefully I will be able to post pics of Jude's first of many more times that he is going to be traveling internationally. :)

I will leave you with this incredibly cute pic of him in his boardshorts at his first day at the beach. Seriously...he is so cute!

  • It's been a long time

So it has been a really long time since I have been on xanga....but since I love to get everyone's updates, I thought I would send one out myself.

For those of you who haven't read yet, Nick and I have a son! He was born on January 16th at 7:37pm in Lima, Peru.  He is a perfect little man! His name is Jude Ashton and he is amazing. And since he was born in Peru and we are Americans, our son legally has dual-citizenship. Actually at this point, he isn't American yet. But we have our meeting with the embassy tomorrow and he soon will be.

So we are enjoying life with him. God is so good to have given us such a precious gift.  I have posted some pics of all of us. As you will see I was lucky to have my family here for the birth and my mom stayed for a full month.  And now we have my in-laws in town. I have been so blessed to have had so much family with us.

The most recent pic of Jude is my profile pic which was taken about a week and a half ago (we need to take more pics).

By the way, if anyone is coming to Lima this summer...look me up!

  • Funny story

Ok...so I have been horrible at updating xanga....I've been a little better at Myspace and Facebook, but it seems like everytime I have time to update this thing it's when I'm in the US.

Speaking of the US....as many of you know I have been living in Peru - a third world country - for over 6 years now and I have never had what has happened to me this past week happen to me while I have been in Peru - again a third-world country.

So first of all, I was in Taco Bell the other day with my dad and I just happened to find a huge hair/fuzz (not the normal size) in my taco. Honestly, it didn't gross me out that much, but I did let them know about the problem. They were gracious...gave me my money back and then gave me a free coupon for a value meal. Cool...I liked getting my money back.

Then a few days later we went to this really nice restaurant with the whole family. I ordered Filet Mignon and asked for Medium under the direction fo the waitress because that how it was going to be nicely pink in the middle. It came back back totally done and very hard...no pink. So I showed the waitress and she was more than willing to change it out for me. So by the time everyone finished their meals, I got my second Filet Mignon.....i think it was moo-ing. It was definitely NOT pink...it was red and practically bleeding. The waitress again, felt terrible and sent it back to get cooked a little more. Finally got the steak right on the third....and again got a free meal out of the deal. Not bad for twice in a week.

Then yesterday...to top it off. We were at Red Robbins....everyone ordered burgers and I ordered the rice bowl. We got our food and I started cutting away at the chicken on top and picking at the vegetables and rice when all of a sudden I saw a wod (sp) of paper in the middle of my rice bowl. Now I have need a lot of things in food, but I don't think I've ever seen a wod of paper slightly smaller than a golf bowl in my food. Of course the management was very sorry and for the 3rd time that week....I got a free meal.

How crazy is that....well just had to share.

Also, just to let you all know I am not officially 30 weeks along in the pregnancy and have definitely go the baby belly going on. It's hard to believe that Jude is going to be here in about 10 weeks. :) I am so excited!

Hope all is well with everyone!
